Faux Painting
I'm putting up a stamped steel Victorian ceiling in the foyer. Bought the tin from AmericanTinCeilings.com. Using Modern Masters copper penny metallic paint for the copper color and Modern Masters English Brown for the dark brown glaze color. I'm mixing the English Brown with glaze for the dark wash to make the copper look antique. Shown is the shiny before and antique look after glazing. There are Victorian tiles pattern #2 from AmericanTinCeilings for the horizontal ceiling and a filler pattern #1 for the vertical part of the ceiling. I'm also using two selections of crown and girder nose molding for the outside corners. One tile shows a brass color rather than copper.
I ended up not using a glaze over the copper. I glazed a couple tiles on the ceiling and decided I liked the raw copper penny color better. An interesting thing happened when I added the english brown to the glaze and shook it to mix the color. The glaze turned out purple! After sitting a while it turned brown!

How much glaze to add? Right to left, none, 4:1, 2:1, 1:4?
Here it is mostly finished. Haven't put the antique glaze on it yet.
