Citrus Varieties I Have Grown
I'm constantly re-evaluating what I'm growing and topworking to something better.
I've imported lots of expensive budwood from California Citrus Budwood Bureau thru the Texas Citrus Budwood Bureau:
USDA 88-2 Lee x Nova seedless very good fruit
USDA 15-150 Lee x Orlando supposed to be as cold hardy as satsuma
USDA 88-3 Lee x Robinson we shall see
Turkish akai sekeri sugar orange Fruit Mentor likes this one
Nordman seedless nagami seedless for marmalade
Valentine the one everyone is talking about
Bream tarroco blood orange haven't seen the fruit yet
Giant key lime much bigger fruit than standard one
Sudachi japanese lemon
Sweet lemons
Ujukitsu
Good but not great. I like minneola better
Sulcata or Samboken
This is more like a grapefruit than anything. It is later than ujukitsu like after Christmas

Sour Citrus
Tavares limequat, makes a large very sour fruit that tastes neither like lime or kumquat
Losers IMHO and have gotten rid of them sometimes after spending$40 for budwood
Pomona acidless lemon. Tasteless like all acidless citrus fruit, insipid and tasteless
Vainiglia Sanguigno Tasteless like all acidless citrus fruit, insipid and tasteless
Meiwa x Nagami kumquat This one never gets orange, nordman is much better
Marsh grapefruit. Never got sweet for me.
Yuzu. Full of seeds and I don't get it about the zest being so good. Pulled up a large tree.
Ujukitsu sweet lemon. Will leave a smallish tree at my old house. I didn't intend to grow it but got on the wrong branch of a multi-tree trying to get Nova budwood
Rio Red Grapefruit. Or any of the red grapefruits. Never got really sweet for me even waiting until April.
